BOARD CHAIRMAN

An opportunity for the position of Board Chairman has arisen for an appropriately experienced person at the National employment Council for the Construction Industry of Zimbabwe. The National Employment Council for the construction Industry has delegated authority, plays an oversight role of enforcing Agreements reached by parties in the Industry. Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons to to the above mentioned position.
PURPOSE
The Board chair is expected to increase Board effectiveness and to maintain Board independence.

KEY FUNCTIONS 
The Chairman shall perform the following functions:

  • Chair all meetings of the Board and ensure that meetings are conducted efficiently and effectively.
  • Call special meetings, if necessary.
  • Facilitate full and candid Board discussions, ensure Councillors express their views on key Board matters and assist the Board in achieving a consensus.
  • Develop teamwork and a cohesive Board Culture and facilitate formal and informal communication with among Councillors.
  • Help ensure that action items established by the Board are tracked and appropriate follow-up action is taken as necessary.
  • ACT as the main link between the Board and the General Secretary.

MINIMUM PERSON SPECIFICATIONS

  • The Incumbent should be self-motivated, a leader with a track record of achievement at Board level.
  • Should not be a member of the employers’ organisations or of the Trade Union and is not engaged in the industry truly independent person.
  • Honesty and integrity with the ability to foster professional culture.
  • No criminal record.
  • A mature individual who is able to lead Council and must have the ability to communicate.
