Policy Brief – Community Land Rights: Local NGO 1977 views

Zimbabwe is among a host of other African countries who have gone on an overdrive to lure Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). These efforts have culminated in an increase in the number of investment agreements that have been signed between the Zimbabwean government and prospective investors. The majority of the investment agreements are targeting sectors such as the energy, mining and agriculture. In most cases, the opening up of land for large-scale investments has resulted in the relocation of affected communities and loss of customary land rights. In light of the aforementioned, a local NGO is seeking the services of a consultant to develop a policy brief on community land rights in the face of large scale investments in the agricultural sector in Zimbabwe.
