Economic Governance Officer
Key relationships
Internally: Director, Deputy Director, Senior Programs Officer Programme Officers, Environmental Lawyers; Externally: CBOs, Community committees, local NGOs, various networks, international stakeholders, donors, providers of consultancy services and external evaluations.
Responsibilities
- Assists the organization in designing and implementing strategic and innovative programme ideas on economic and financial aspects in the extractive and natural resources sector;
- Carries out economic policy research and advocacy on mining, natural resources, and environmental governance;
- Develops effective methodologies and tools on how best the organization can engage in high-level dialogue on economic issues with government, communities, mining companies and donors on extractive, natural resources, and environmental sector issues;
- Trains community groups, civil society, government departments, parliamentarians and other stakeholders on economic aspects of the natural resources sector;
- Engages relevant stakeholders on economic aspects of the natural resources sector to influence economic and financial policies;
- Guides the organization in responding innovatively to any new economic developments in the natural resources and extractive sector;
- Advise the organization and implement projects related to international trade in natural resources;
- Completes any assignments or duties that you may be requested to do by the Senior Programs Officer, the Deputy Director and the Director;
- Assists other project officers in implementing specific project activities within your competencies.
Qualifications and experience
- Economics or Accounting degree;
- 3 years’ experience;
- Must be analytical (have business acumen);
- Must have research skills;
- Must be an effective communicator; Must be innovated;
- Must have effective writing skills.
