Main Tasks and ResponsibilitiesLeading of the market orientated project activities of the ABC; Liaising with crop and livestock market partners at the district level; Liaising with local, district, provincial and national private sector buyers and other stakeholders; Identifying and documenting case studies, MSc stories and stories of change; Identifying and analysing key value chains which maximize benefits for small scale farmers; Undertaking market surveys; Identifying smallholder value chains with good commercial potential; Identifying local market opportunities for smallholders and other valuable service provider’s e.g. transporters, payment solutions; Collecting of agricultural marketing data from local markets; Training of trainers, farmers in market based agriculture and contract farming; Training of farmers in group input and output marketing; Supporting and guiding private sector partners on field visits; Monthly and activity reporting; Any other duties as may be assigned by the Head of Project.
Required Skills and ExperienceDegree in Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Engineering, Health and Environmental Sciences or any other related field. A Postgraduate qualification is an added advantage; Minimum of 4 years professional experience in a similar position; Excellent facilitation, negotiation and influencing skills; Ability to work independently and under pressure; Effective communication skills and ability to network and establish collaboration with different partners and agencies; Very good command of written and spoken English; Good working knowledge of MS Office; Clean class 4 driver’s licence
