Position Overview
In anticipation of funding, International Rescue Committee, is recruiting for the position of Monitoring & Evaluation Assistant for a program which will be implemented in Chimanimani and Chipinge. The incumbent will be responsible for assisting in the implementation of project M&E activities and assist in regular monitoring of the project deliverable and processes. The M & E Assistant will report directly to the M&E officer.


Assisting in the designing and management of the project database including M&E systems tools and templates to monitor performance. This includes the development of log frames, PMP, and data collection tools, as well as processes for data analysis;
Assisting on the collection and analysis of quantitative data to measure the agreed indicators;
Assist project staff to assure data quality collected;
ensure that data is collected and accurately entered into databases monthly;
Assist on the collection of qualitative information using best practice processes to measure indicators;
Analyze and communicate data to the project team, the M&E team, and other relevant staff for reporting and serve any other data needs as may be required;
Ensure transparency in accounting, reporting and documenting project activities, and ensure compliance with donor and IRC M&E policies and best practice;
Data entry in COMET database
Coordination and Representation
Assist in the development of M&E indicators, standards and, guidelines and with other implementation partners

Training and Capacity Building

  • Assist in project and partner staff trainings in M&E, especially in the areas of basic concepts of M&E, qualitative and quantitative methods of data collection, analysis and use of M&E data;
  • Provide feedback to the M&E Officer in evaluating project teams’ M&E skills;
  • Regularly visit all field sites to ensure that M&E is being implemented effectively by staff and produce related monitoring reports.

Required Qualifications

  • Degree in Monitoring and Evaluation, Statistics or any other related qualification;
  • Good MS Excel skills is a must;
  • One year experience in Monitoring and Evaluation field;
  • Appreciation of M&E for Cash transfer programming

  • Proactive in liaising and problem solving;
  • Excellent interpersonal, networking, communication, negotiation and facilitation skills;
  • Excellent computer skills including navigating email, internet and MS WORD, Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Good personal relationship skills
