General Description of the Role
GOAL operates in Tongogara Refugees Camp in Chipinge District, where it is responsible for development of Livelihoods WASH activities for Refugees. Reporting to the Project Manager, this role will be responsible for providing guidance and implementation of livelihoods interventions and effectively promote self-reliance activities in the camp. S/he will work closely with government departments such as Veterinary Services, Agritex and other Private Sector partners in providing technical support to farmers and ensuring there is quality programming and adherence to GOAL and UNHCR policies.
Summary of Key Duties
Ensure that all refugees participating in livelihoods projects are properly registered and profiled; Identify critical livelihoods knowledge and skills gaps in participating refugees and liaise with relevant government departments in designing appropriate training materials to cover the identified gaps; Facilitate and provide on-site and effective training to refugee participants in agro-based livelihoods and non-agro based self-reliance activities; Implement and monitor performance of market led, agro-based and non-agro- based livelihoods interventions in the camp and ensure sound and effective market linkages are developed and maintained throughout all the interventions so that participants become self-reliant and are graduated from donor direct support.
Person Specifications (Attributes and Qualifications)
At least a Diploma in Agriculture or equivalent. A Degree in Agriculture with a bias in either crop or livestock production is desirable; Evidence of maturity and experience in market-based livelihoods interventions and working in refugees’ camps /rural community development programs; At least two years’ work experience in related livelihoods interventions and management of graduation and self-reliance interventions; Clean class 3 or 4 driver’s license; willingness to ride a motor bike a must; Understanding of mainstreaming principles and experience of working on mainstreaming activities of gender, HIV/AIDS and Child Protection.
