We are looking for vibrant and trailblazing individuals to join our team in the following role: Benefits Clerk (APWCS)

 

Reporting to the Senior Benefits Officer (APWCS), the successful candidate will process and pay beneficiaries on legitimate claims in order to cushion workers and their dependents in the event of the formers` injury in work related accidents or illnesses.
Key Outputs
 Arrange medical boards, special meetings and make appointments for workers with doctors and medical institutions to ascertain the correct percentage disability for treatment, operations and disability assessments.
 Execute all relevant processes as per standing instructions to ensure correct payments are made and no duplicate & illegitimate payments are made
 Attend to clients queries on benefits payment.
 Refer injured workers to Orthopaedic Centre/Rehabilitation centre for fitting of artificial appliances, treatment, training to attain maximum recovery and reduce PDs.
 Make follow up on late submitted claims, uninsured claims, serious claims and fatal claims to effect surcharges and prosecution of employers.
 Prepare vouchers for travelling and subsistence expenses and vouchers for payment of awards to cover travelling costs and ensure payment for services rendered.
 Prepare files and pay constant attendance allowances to enable seriously injured workers to be looked after by aiders.

 

Qualifying Requirements
 A Diploma in Pensions Management Social sciences, Accounting or Business Administration or equivalent.
 1-3 years’ experience.

 

Key Competencies and Characteristics
 Excellent computation skills
 Good communication skills
 Excellent interpersonal skills
 Understanding of governing statutes
