We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented, and proactive Accountant to oversee financial administration, tax and regulatory compliance. The role is based in Beira, Mozambique, and the successful candidate will be sourced from Zimbabwe and must be willing to relocate. The successful candidate will ensure accurate bookkeeping and timely statutory submissions, maintain full compliance with regulatory requirements, and support ad hoc executive requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain accurate books of accounts, including financial statements, journals, and general ledgers.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable functions, including invoicing and payment processing.
  • Conduct monthly and quarterly financial analysis and prepare management reports.
  • Prepare and submit monthly tax returns (VAT, PAYE, withholding taxes, etc.) in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure full compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax laws, and statutory regulations, and proactively identify and resolve compliance issues.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities, auditors, and statutory bodies on compliance matters.
  • Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning for multiple projects.
  • Oversee the administration and management of the office.
  • Provide administrative support to management, including document preparation and correspondence.
  • Maintain organized office records, files, and databases.
  • Develop and implement administrative policies and procedures to improve operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • Degree in Accounting & Finance.
  • Minimum 4 years’ relevant experience as an accountant.
  • Strong knowledge of tax compliance, statutory reporting, and regulatory requirements.
  • Must be willing to relocate to and work in Beira, Mozambique.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to speak Portuguese will be an added advantage.
  • Experience working with clearing companies will be an added advantage
