Technical Sales Engineer
Job Purpose
To manage the commercial and industrial solar product offerings through product development, enhancement, and marketing to ensure long term competitiveness and profitability.
Job Responsibilities
• Make new sales contacts, researches customer needs and develops application of products and services.
• Responsible for technical and commercial proposals following the customer specifications including contract documents, value proposition and initial cost analysis.
• Aligns the technical solutions to the local markets by ensuring market compatibility to customer requirements in line with the business case.
• Prepares technical documents and reports for new innovative ideas for planning purposes.
• Contributes to the development of the business requirements document (Business Rules) for commercial and industrial.
• Forecasts demand for the commercial and industrial products by reviewing market developments and other variables affecting demand.
• Reviews quarterly plans in line with market developments.
• Ensures quality control through the evaluation and review of product design and market readiness before launch.
• Provides reports of the technical performance of the products and recommends areas of further development for review.
• Research into commercially available photovoltaic, and energy storage technologies and recommends technologies to targeted markets and customers.
• Collaborative development of photovoltaic, hybrid energy and energy storage technology solutions with original equipment manufacturers and vendors for deployment in telecoms towers and the commercial and Industrial segments.
• Contributes towards the research strategy, study design, methodologies and analysis for all commercial and industrial products and projects.
• Researches, compiles and analyses information and data relating to the commercial and industrial business and evaluate result.
• Imparts regular training and/or distributes product manual to customer contact team: and trade channel representatives to enhance their knowledge and skills on product usage and attributes.
• Gathers market intelligence through periodic trade visits to identify product distributor gaps and recommends the appropriate shop type or channel type per area.
• Acquires and develops new activations by prospecting for new business in line with business plan on a continuous basis.
• Drives the identification of opportunities for commercial and industrial and in untamed markets in line with business plan.
• Drives promotional initiatives per specific area to enhance product awareness and uptake.
Qualifications and Experienced
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related Technical degree.
• Experience in customer facing field or technical support role.
• 3- 5 years’ experience in a similar or related environment.
• Experience in product development.
• Excellent presentation, oral and written communication skills.
