Duties

Directly supervise a maintenance team of 20 technicians comprised of plumbers, carpenters, electricians, AC technicians, mason, painter, and trades helpers who perform preventive and corrective maintenance on 70 government owned and leased residences in Harare, Zimbabwe. Reports directly to Facility Manager.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:
Minimum of five years of work experience in one of the maintenance trades (plumbing, electrical, HVAC technician, carpentry, generator technician, engineering technician, or other equivalent technical position) is required. 1 year of experience must have been in a supervisory role (foreman, team leader, or supervisor)
Education Requirements:
Completion of secondary school (5 Ordinary Level passes) is required. Must have completed vocational training or apprenticeship recognized as producing journeyman level skills in one of the maintenance trades (plumbing, electrical, HVAC technician, carpentry, generator technician, engineering technician, or other equivalent technical position).
Evaluations:
LANGUAGE: 

Level III (good working knowledge) of spoken and written English is required

 

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Must have excellent supervisory and managerial skills and be able to identify, propose and implement sensible and cost effective solutions to all common residential building maintenance problems. Must proficient in the Microsoft Office software suite

Must possess a valid class 4 drivers license.

 

JOB KNOWLEDGE:

Good working knowledge of building maintenance operations is required. Must have good knowledge of maintenance trades, tools, equipment and standard maintenance practices and procedures. Must have good knowledge of safety, safety equipment and procedures.

This may be tested.

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
