Key Responsibilities
- Provide scientific research leadership in high-impact studies on wetland ecology and climate change.
- Manage the full research lifecycle from conceptual design and data modelling to publishing in top-tier journals and securing external grants.
- Act as a primary liaison between the University and the public on biodiversity and wetland conservation and management issues.
- Develop and pilot data-driven conservation tools and decision support systems to create Modern solutions for biodiversity monitoring and ecosystem management.
- Draft policy briefs and strategic recommendations that convert research outcomes into sustainable biodiversity conservation frameworks and national wetland management policies.
- Any other duties as may be assigned by the Director.
Requirements
- A PhD in a relevant discipline such as Ecology, Environmental Science, Hydrology, Conservation Biology, Natural Resource Management or related field (degree must have been awarded within the last 5 years).
- A strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals, commensurate with the career stage.
- Demonstrated proficiency in advanced quantitative methods, statistical programming (e.g. R, Python), and/or geospatial analysis (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS, Google Earth Engine).
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, with proven ability to communicate effectively with both scientific and non-technical audiences.
