Key Responsibilities

  • Fixed Term Contract General Hands:
    • Bush clearing and debris removal
    • Moving construction materials as assigned
    • Preparing pipe trenches according to specifications
    • Grass cutting and maintenance of council grounds
    • Clearing storm drains
    • Tar patching
    • Performing general council duties as assigned
  • Plumbing Attendants:
    • Attend to burst pipes
    • Carry out plumbing work on new municipal buildings
    • Repair and maintain council houses
    • Repair broken water meters
    • Disconnect and reconnect water services for non-paying residents
  • Assistant Fitter and Turner:
    • Assist with fitting parts to machinery and fixed plant
    • Support welding activities under supervision
    • Assist with installation and commissioning of pumps and equipment
    • Test newly installed equipment
    • Assist with plant overhauls
    • Prepare reports
    • Perform other assigned duties
  • Committees Officer:
    • Prepare agendas, minutes and meeting schedules
    • Coordinate invitations for councillors
    • Capture and distribute Council meeting minutes
    • Maintain records of minutes, reports and resolutions
    • Update Council Standing Orders and Code of Ethics
    • Prepare Council Resolution Reports
    • Support Council meeting arrangements

Requirements

  • Fixed Term Contract General Hands:
    • ‘O’ Level certificate
    • At least one year’s experience in similar work

  • Plumbing Attendants:
    • Five ‘O’ Levels
    • Experience in plumbing works
    • Plumbing certificate is an added advantage

  • Graduate Trainee – Economic Development:
    • Degree in Economics, Marketing, Business Studies, Finance or related field
    • Five ‘O’ Levels including Mathematics, English and Science

    • Candidates must be below 26 years of age
