DIVISION OF STUDENT AFFAIRS

Medical Doctor (1 POST – 36 MONTHS FIXED CONTRACT)

Requirements –

• MBChB or its equivalent.
• A relevant postgraduate qualification will be an added advantage.
• A valid Practising Certificate from the Medical and Dental Practitioners Council of Zimbabwe is a requirement.
• Good IT skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good team-player skills.
• A respect for confidentiality.
• Ability to work under pressure without supervision.
• High energy, self-motivated and ability to deal with staff at all levels with tact and courtesy.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Medical Doctor shall be responsible to the Deputy Registrar and the Pro-Vice Chancellor, and the duties will include: – Act as Head of the Health Services Section. – Examine, diagnose and treat students and staff for all ailments. – Refer students and staff for special treatment where and when necessary. – Conduct hospital visits for students and staff. – Attending relevant University committee meetings. – Conducting health education programmes for both students and staff. – Examine and produce certificates for all food handlers employed by the University. – Provide medical examination reports to new members of staff in the University. Any other duty which may be assigned from time to time.
