INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS OFFICE Language Assistant (1 Post) Requirements: • Bachelor of Education in English/ Bachelor of Arts Honours English or related discipline • Diploma in Education (English) • Qualified English teacher with minimum 5 years’ experience • Knowledge of French an added advantage • Masters Degree added advantage Duties and Responsibilities The position of Language Assistant is located in the MSU International Relations Office (IRO). As a Language Assistant, you will report to the Executive Dean IRO. Your duties will include • Preparing and delivering intensive English as a foreign Language(EFL) lessons for non-Zimbabwean Leaners with diverse competence levels in English • Preparing and delivering intensive English for Academic Purposes (EAP) lessons for international students pursuing diverse educational programmes at MSU • Providing EAP support (Academic reading, writing, listening, speaking) to international students a various stages of their Diploma and Degree programmes. • Preparing immersion experiences for international students. • Motivating students to quickly build their competence levels to ensure successful study at MSU

Providing EAP support (Academic reading, writing, listening, speaking) to international students a various stages of their Diploma and Degree programmes. • Preparing immersion experiences for international students. • Motivating students to quickly build their competence levels to ensure successful study at MSU • Assess and maintain record of the progress of leaners against specified EFL and EAP targets • Be passionate about Language Education and Internationalisation of Tertiary Education. • Attending IRO meetings. • Participating in IRO recruitment and hosting activities. • Promote the socio-cultural integration of MSU international students by managing the behaviour of students in an effective learning environment that promotes their general well-being. • Behaving professionally at all times and maintaining confidentiality of information. • Performing such other duties as the Executive Dean (IRO) and University Management may reasonably and from time to time require.
