Organization profileThe TENDAI Steps Together Trial is a two-arm randomized effectiveness trial evaluating a brief, stepped care treatment for depression and ART adherence in viremic patients with HIV. The Tendai Steps Together Trial is a study conducted by the University of Zimbabwe College of Health Sciences in collaboration with Kings College London Institute of Psychiatry Psychology and Neuroscience (London UK) and the Department of Psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital / Harvard Medical School. Full time, 12-month contract (renewable-pending availability of funds).
Job descriptionThe position involves carrying out research related duties including data entry, consenting of participants and patient recruitment, according to internationally recognized standards of ethical conduct of mental health research.
Key tasks and responsibilitiesTo recruit research participants living with HIV into a trial of therapy for depression and poor adherence; To provide data collection and data entry support for the TENDAI Study; To carry out all study related procedures including screening patients, and consenting them into the study; To complete case reporting forms and enter data into a database; To ensure that all procedures are done in compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) for clinical research; The research assistant should possess knowledge of mental health, have strong interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
We expect the followingRecent graduate with Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or related field; Excellent computer skills as all evaluations will be completed electronically; Experience in mental health research; Basic knowledge of the principles of the ethical conduct of research; Ability to work well with others and integrate into the public health care system; Awareness of the burden of depression in people living with HIV.
