Key Responsibilities

  • Provides strategic leadership and oversight of the Society’s Finance function.
  • Develops and implements the Society’s financial strategy in alignment with the 2026-2030 Corporate Strategy.
  • Advises the CEO, Executive Management and Board on financial sustainability and business performance.
  • Oversees financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, management accounting and financial reporting.
  • Ensures accurate, timely and reliable financial statements and management reports.
  • Strengthens financial controls, accounting systems, financial governance and risk management frameworks.
  • Oversees treasury, cash-flow management, investments and optimisation of financial resources.
  • Ensures effective management of receivables, payables, contribution income, expenditure and other financial transactions.
  • Leads the preparation and monitoring of the annual budget and ensures effective budgetary control.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable legislation, regulatory requirements, accounting standards and PSMAS policies.
  • Coordinates internal and external audit processes and ensures timely resolution of audit findings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration or a related discipline – mandatory.
  • Recognised professional accounting qualification such as CA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent – mandatory.
  • Membership of a recognised professional accounting or finance body.
  • A Master’s Degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, Economics or a related discipline is an added advantage.
  • At least 10 years’ progressive experience in finance and accounting, including 5 years at senior management or executive level.
  • Proven experience in financial strategy, financial management, budgeting and financial reporting.
  • Strong experience in financial controls, audit, treasury, cash-flow and risk management.
  • Experience managing complex financial operations within a large organisation.
  • Experience in financial services, insurance, medical aid or another regulated environment is an added advantage.
  • Demonstrable experience in financial transformation, systems implementation and automation.
  • Strong strategic financial planning and organisational restructuring experience.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop multidisciplinary Finance teams.
