We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Billing Clerk to join our medical practice. The successful candidate will be responsible for accurate patient billing, payment processing, medical aid claims, patient bookings, and related administrative and financial record-keeping. The Billing Clerk plays a key role in ensuring the smooth financial operation of the practice – from preparing patient invoices and processing payments, to submitting and following up on medical aid claims, coordinating patient appointments, and maintaining accurate financial records.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process patient bills accurately.
  • Capture all services, procedures, consultations, and products provided to patients.
  • Verify charges against the applicable price list.
  • Issue invoices and receipts to patients.
  • Explain charges and outstanding balances to patients when required.
  • Receive and process cash, card, bank transfer, and other approved payments.
  • Reconcile daily payments and ensure all transactions are accurately recorded.
  • Follow up on outstanding patient accounts.
  • Maintain accurate records of payments and balances.
  • Prepare daily and monthly billing reports.
  • Capture and submit medical aid claims accurately and promptly.
  • Verify patient medical aid details and eligibility where applicable.
  • Follow up on rejected, unpaid, or outstanding claims.
  • Maintain proper records of submitted and paid claims.
  • Liaise with medical aid administrators when necessary.
  • Coordinate and schedule patient appointments and consultations.
