Deputy Director of Works
QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree in Architecture from a recognized institution.
- Registration with the Zimbabwe Institute of Architecture is an added advantage.
- At least 5 years working experience in a design office.
- Experience in the design of public buildings especially learning institutions.
- Should be conversant with the current Building by Laws.
- Ability to work under minimum supervision is a distinct advantage
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Deputy Director shall be required to carry out the following duties:
ADMINISTRATIVE
- Overseeing all maintenance works for the University. Accessing contractor’s claims, preparing payment certificates for construction and maintenance works and submitting them for checking and approval by the Director of Works.
- Assisting the Director of Works to produce and prepare committee and Departmental reports.
- Assessing and approving all internal requisitions for materials required to carry out maintenance works.
- Receiving and recording construction drawings issued by the project consultants.
- Ensuring that all site and occupation safety measures are observed.
TECHNICAL
- Preparing annual maintenance plans for existing University buildings and infrastructure.
- Preparing drawings for buildings and infrastructure whenever required to do so by the Director of Works.
- Directing project supervision and monitoring of all maintenance works. Liaising with contractors and consultants on site and ensuring that general specifications are met and construction procedures are executed properly.
- Ensuring that all materials meet specifications and are properly stored,
- Carrying out any other technical duties as directed by the Director of Works.
