Suitably qualified, experienced and motivated candidates are invited to apply for the position of Software Development Specialist which has arisen in Technology Services Department.

Key responsibilities

Reporting to the Technology Innovations Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following, among others:

• Monitoring the entire software life cycle –concept, design, build, deploy, test, release and support.
• Developing high quality Java application software.
• Conducting continuous improvements by investigating alternatives and technologies and presenting these for architectural review.
• Building robust APIs and integrate to Third Party Systems.
• Building prototypes at tech scoping stage of projects and reusable libraries and code artefacts.
• Ensuring Software Development expertise when writing and reviewing mobile apps code.
• Ensuring Systems and Applications are in compliance with regulatory bodies such as RBZ, PCI, ZimSwitch

Skills and Experience

• Strong OO design and programming skills in Java (J2EE/ Spring)
• Strong knowledge of Agile methodology.
• Experience with AWS/ EC2 or other cloud services.
• Hadoop, HBase and /or MapReduce experience.
• Excellent coding skill in Java, C++ and or Python
• Proficiency in Linux environment
• 4 years and above experience in professional environment.

Educational Qualifications

• First Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Informatics.
• At least 1 Enterprise framework certificate eg J2EE, Spring etc.
• Java SE Certification.
