Senior Lawyer / Legal Officer: Local NGO

A Local NGO has a vacancy for a Senior Lawyer/Legal Officer. The organisation provides digital information and commentaries on legal and constitutional issues in Zimbabwe, including developments in Parliament and Government, as well as court cases raising human rights and constitutional issues.

An applicant must, therefore:
Have a law degree and be a registered legal practitioner in Zimbabwe; Have at least ten years’ legal work experience – preferably some of it in private law practice; Be interested in and familiar with human rights and constitutional law, and with the framework and contents of Zimbabwean Statute Law; Have excellent analytic abilities; Have excellent spoken and written English, and be able to explain legal and constitutional issues, court proceedings and judgments in clear, simple terms suitable for ordinary people; Be able and prepared to address workshops, seminars etc on legal and constitutional issues; Computer literacy a must

The applicant will not be required to provide legal services to individual clients, but must be able to prepare public interest court applications. The applicant may be required to produce an example of his own written work showing analytic skill and clarity of communication.
