Frequently Asked Questions
What qualifications or certifications are typically required for a Revenue Clerk (B3) role at ZINARA?
Applicants usually need a minimum of a National Certificate in Accounting, Business Studies, or Finance from a recognized Zimbabwean institution like ZIMSEC or NTA-accredited colleges. A professional certification such as ACCA Foundation Diploma or CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting is increasingly valued, especially given ZINARA’s alignment with national finance standards.
What does a typical day look like for a Revenue Clerk (B3) at ZINARA?
Daily tasks include processing road user fees and licence payments, reconciling daily revenue collections, updating the ZINARA financial system, and preparing reports for supervisors. Clerks often interact with members of the public at service centres and must adhere strictly to Zimbabwe’s Public Finance Management Act and ZINARA’s internal revenue protocols.
How does workplace culture and expectations differ for this role in Zimbabwe compared to other countries?
Zimbabwean public sector roles like this emphasize respect for hierarchy, punctuality, and formal communication — especially when liaising with senior officers or government stakeholders. Dress code is typically smart-casual or formal, and adherence to national holidays, public service ethics codes, and anti-corruption guidelines is non-negotiable.
What realistic career progression paths exist after working as a Revenue Clerk (B3) at ZINARA?
Clerks may progress to Revenue Officer (B4), then Revenue Supervisor (B5), subject to performance, internal vacancies, and completion of mandatory in-service training through the Public Service Commission. Further advancement into finance management roles often requires upgrading to a degree and passing PSC-promotion assessments.
What benefits can a Revenue Clerk (B3) expect in terms of leave, medical aid, and pension?
Employees are entitled to 30 days’ annual leave, sick leave under the Labour Act, and maternity/paternity leave per Zimbabwe’s statutory requirements. Medical aid is typically provided through a government-approved scheme like NSSA Health Services, and pension contributions are mandatory under the NSSA Pension Scheme for public servants.
