Station: Waterfalls Incubation Centre
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and configure machines for operation, including setting up tooling, adjusting feeds, and calibrating machinery to meet specifications.
- Load raw materials into machines, ensuring proper alignment and securing of materials for efficient processing.
- Safely operate barbed wire, wire nail, lathe, and milling machines in accordance with operational procedures and safety protocols.
- Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications, set up and operate machine tools for precision machining. Fabricate and repair machinery components to exact specifications. Continuously monitor machine operations for quality control, ensuring that products meet established standards and specifications.
- Conduct regular inspections of products for quality, performing measurements and tests to detect defects or deviations from specifications.
- Identify and troubleshoot issues with machinery, performing minor repairs or adjustments as needed to maintain production efficiency. Conduct routine maintenance checks to ensure machines are in optimal working condition.
- Maintain detailed records of production output, machine performance, and any issues encountered during operation. Report any malfunctions or unsafe conditions to supervisors promptly.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and guidelines, ensuring a safe working environment for oneself and colleagues. Utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Work closely with other operators, maintenance personnel, and supervisors to improve production processes and resolve any operational challenges.
- Contribute to initiatives aimed at enhancing productivity, reducing waste, and improving product quality through feedback and suggestions.
- Conduct training on new technologies and facilitate practical tests.
- Supervise Technical Assistant.
Requirements
- Technician Diploma/NC/HND/Apprenticeship Certificate/Journeyman I Card Fitting & Turning/Machining or Equivalent in Fitting & Turning/Machining/Machine shop Engineering/Mechanical Engineering/Production Engineering.
- At least one (1) year of post-qualification experience in the relevant field.
- Proficiency in operating various machinery, understanding technical blueprints/technical drawings, precision machining operations, and familiarity with production processes.
- Ability to perform precise work and ensure high-quality output.
- Competence in diagnosing issues and implementing effective solutions quickly.
- Capability to handle heavy materials and operate machinery for extended periods.
- Effective communication with team members and supervisors.
