Key Responsibilities

  • Design, install, commission and maintain mechanical equipment used in mining and mineral processing operations.
  • Supervise and support the maintenance of crushers, screens, conveyors, pumps, mills and other processing equipment.
  • Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programmes.
  • Diagnose mechanical and equipment failures and conduct root-cause analysis.
  • Inspect machinery and identify potential mechanical faults before they result in equipment failure.
  • Support the installation, commissioning and optimisation of new mining and processing equipment.
  • Monitor equipment performance and recommend improvements to increase reliability and productivity.
  • Provide technical support for hydraulic, pneumatic and rotating equipment.
  • Prepare maintenance schedules, technical reports and equipment performance assessments.
  • Ensure all mechanical systems comply with applicable safety and operational requirements.
  • Work closely with electrical, automation, mining and process engineering teams. Provide technical guidance to maintenance technicians and other engineering personnel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent recognised engineering qualification. Relevant experience in mining, mineral processing, manufacturing or heavy industrial operations.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical maintenance, rotating equipment, hydraulics, pneumatics and industrial machinery.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, equipment manuals and technical specifications.
  • Experience with preventive and predictive maintenance systems.
  • Strong fault-finding, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Good understanding of occupational health and safety requirements in industrial environments.
  • Ability to work at mining and processing sites when required.
