Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and review mechanical components, machinery and mining accessories.
  • Supervise fabrication, assembly and installation of mechanical equipment.
  • Prepare and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
  • Oversee testing, commissioning and performance evaluation of fabricated machinery.
  • Diagnose mechanical faults and develop effective corrective solutions.
  • Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance programmes. Inspect fabricated equipment and components to ensure compliance with required specifications and quality standards.
  • Provide technical guidance to fitters, fabricators, welders, technicians and other workshop personnel.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis of equipment failures and recommend engineering improvements.
  • Improve the reliability, efficiency, durability and safety of machinery and equipment.
  • Assist with selection of appropriate materials, components and mechanical systems.
  • Prepare engineering reports, maintenance procedures and equipment specifications.
  • Support workshop planning, production and quality-control activities.
  • Train and mentor junior engineers, technicians and artisans.
  • Ensure engineering activities comply with applicable safety requirements and company procedures.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution.
  • Relevant professional engineering qualifications or registration will be an added advantage.
  • At least 3-5 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience, preferably in manufacturing, machinery fabrication, mining or heavy industry.
  • Practical knowledge of mechanical equipment, fabrication and maintenance.
  • Strong understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, rotating equipment, pumps, gearboxes, conveyors and other industrial machinery.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Experience with equipment installation, commissioning, troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of engineering design and manufacturing processes.
  • Good analytical, problem-solving and project-management skills.
