Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate and supervise mechanical maintenance activities across mining and processing operations.
  • Ensure maximum availability, reliability and operational efficiency of mining and mineral-processing equipment.
  • Oversee preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance programmes. Inspect, diagnose and repair mechanical faults affecting plant and mining equipment.
  • Provide engineering support for crushers, conveyors, screens, pumps, mills and other processing equipment.
  • Supervise installation, commissioning, modification and upgrading of mechanical equipment.
  • Develop maintenance schedules and ensure maintenance activities are completed within planned timeframes.
  • Investigate recurring equipment failures and implement appropriate corrective and preventive measures.
  • Monitor equipment performance and recommend engineering improvements to reduce downtime and maintenance costs.
  • Prepare maintenance reports, equipment records, technical specifications and engineering documentation.
  • Coordinate with production, mining, electrical and processing teams to maintain continuous operations. Supervise contractors and maintenance personnel and ensure work is completed according to approved engineering standards.
  • Ensure compliance with occupational health, safety and environmental requirements.
  • Assist management with engineering projects, equipment procurement and technical evaluations.
  • Support the development and training of local technical and engineering personnel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent recognised qualification.
  • Relevant professional registration or membership will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant post-qualification experience, preferably within mining, mineral processing or a heavy industrial environment.
  • Experience with heavy mining and mineral-processing equipment is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, rotating equipment and industrial machinery.
  • Experience with crushers, conveyors, pumps, screens, mills or similar processing equipment will be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance systems. Strong engineering problem-solving and fault-diagnosis skills.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, equipment manuals and technical specifications.
  • Good computer skills and familiarity with maintenance management systems will be an advantage.
  • Ability to work under pressure and in remote mining environments.
