INVESTMENT MANAGER – (HEAD OFFICE): GRADE 15

Reporting to the Chief Investment Officer, the successful candidate will identify and manage investment opportunities which enhance the value of the Authority with particular focus on agriculture related investment projects as part of the Authority’s strategic drive to invest in agriculture value chains.

Key Outputs:

  • Create an investment portfolio that generates sustainable long-term positive returns (alpha) through applying a dynamic investment approach that capitalizes on emerging non-traditional investment opportunities.
  • Build a pipeline of alternative investments including but not limited to agriculture ventures.
  • Conduct due diligence on alternative investment opportunities and recommend long term plausible investments structures that deliver value and fit into NSSA’s Strategic Asset Allocation.
  • Develop concise financial modelling and evaluation models for optimal use in company valuations, risk – return optimisation and resource allocation within the context of the overall investment portfolio parameters.
  • Develop investment thesis and author investment memorandums to present to technical partners and work with them to gain traction of the investment undertakings.
  • Review, monitor, and report on a timely basis, the financial, strategic, governance and operational performance of alternative investments.
  • Portfolio rebalancing: Conduct continuous evaluation of portfolio structure in line with target requirements and recommend portfolio restructuring that sets to achieve the required asset allocation mix.
  • Prepare Board papers and other adhoc reports for the portfolio under management in line with the standard operating procedures.
  • Develop sound relationships with key stakeholders to ensure a synergistic and coordinated approach to the achievement of investment and social protection objectives.

Qualifying Requirements

  • A Degree in Agriculture Economics/Agriculture Finance or Business/Economics/Finance/lnvestments or equivalent.
  • A post graduate business qualification such as an MBA, MSc ,CFA or CA etc is an added advantage.
  • At least 5 year’s post graduate professional experience in Corporate Finance and Investments, including hands-on experience in deal origination, due diligence, structuring and executing investments in agriculture, infrastructure, utilities and private equity.

Key Competencies and Characteristics

  • Proven experience in large scale agriculture investment projects.
  • Strong knowledge of agricultural investment projects.
  • Thorough understanding of national strategy on agriculture development in Zimbabwe.
  • Experience in evaluating agricultural value chains and investment opportunities.
  • Experience in programmes aimed at increasing access to finance and investment for agricultural value chains.
  • Strong research, data gathering and organisational skills.
  • Strong quantitative corporate finance including financial modelling.
  • Demonstratable portfolio of executed investment mandates.
  • Demonstrated creativity, taking initiative, multi-task and systematic thinking in a team environment.
  • Ability to manage, support and mentor team members.
