The role is an initial part time, free-lance role. However, the charity hopes to be in position to extend the contract or make the position permanent.

Purpose of Job
The Grant Officer will work closely with colleagues to identify opportunities for funding, supporting proposal development and supporting partner and donor relationship management.

Organisation and Job Context
PHOEBE is an international charity that works with women and girls living in poverty. Our dedicated local staff are ending violence against women and girls and helping change lives, for good. The post will be based at the PHOEBE Zimbabwe, Harare.

Principal Accountabilities
The candidate will work with our team on financial and narrative reports, documenting programme learning and play a key role writing of the funding proposals. We are keen to receive applications from those with demonstrable experience of supporting donor development and or grant management for institutional donors. To be successful within this role, you must have experience of proposal budgeting or financial reporting for institutional and/or trust and foundation donors. It is also important that applicants have a clear understanding of institutional donors, including trends, priorities and due diligence requirements. This is a demanding role, with conflicting priorities and deadlines, so it is essential that the post holder is able to manage their time well, that they can priorities their work and that they are able to work well independently and as part of a team. To be successful, you must have strong written and oral communication skills and you must be able to quickly build a rapport with people across the organisation.

Education/ Training
Masters degree is social sciences or grant/project management qualification or relevant experience

Able to persuade, negotiate and influence; Able to communicate well with the ability to listen, check understanding and establish rapport; Skilled in working as a team player and independently; Ability to analyse, interpret and evaluate information, carry out risk assessments and write good reports; Skilled in questioning, giving and processing feedback and making judgements; Ability to understand basic financial information profit and loss, depreciation and capital and revenue expenditure; Computer skills – Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office Applications Word, Excel, PowerPoint – Good social media skills; Some experience in grant-making and/or project management; Experienced in organising, prioritising and work planning; Experienced in working to deadlines and within budget.
