First Aid Trainer/ Assessor

Role:

Reporting to the head of first aid training, you will play a vital role in the delivery of first aid training and specialist courses.

As an experienced first aid trainer with a background in health, you will utilize your knowledge, skills and experience to deliver high-quality, effective training that caters for all learning styles. Training and ongoing support will be provided.

 

Purpose:

As a trainer and assessor you will be responsible for the planning, delivery, quality and administration of a range of first aid, safety and health related training courses.

 

Relationships:

You will work within a diverse team of trainers, assessors and symposium coordinators that is expected to grow significantly in number over the next two years.

Effective engagement with internal and external stakeholders, including other functional areas within the organization, students and customers and members of the public, is essential. Scope:

 

Training

• Responsible for the planning, delivery and quality of a range of assigned Safety and health, first aid related training courses across a number of venues.

• Plan resources required for individual programmes; ensuring that resources are utilized effectively and efficiently and suitably maintained and cleaned.

• Provide consistently high quality training to national standards with a focus on the accuracy of the course content, effective training methods and activities and the candidates’ learning experience.

• Deliver learning using a variety of styles and methodologies adapted to the needs of the learner to stimulate and sustain learner motivation and engagement; adjust lessons to best meet the needs of individual learners while adhering to the content and delivery requirements of the course standards.

• Actively seek feedback from students and customers and objectively review the outcomes of the course in order to learn lessons, surpass standards and improve the learner and customer experience. Team Work

 

 

• Work independently and as part of a team using own initiative.

• Support and assist team members and colleagues by providing advice and support in general as well as specialist advice in relation to first aid guidelines and/or health and safety guidelines.

• As a member of the team participate and contribute to the achievement of projects and the first aid training business plan.

• Work closely with the first aid training team, administration team, volunteers and other Lifelink emergency rescue services staff to support initiatives and the achievement of organizational strategic objectives. Customer Service

• Project a professional, customer-focused image at all times by ensuring adherence to dress codes, providing expert advice and support in relation to customer queries and responding timely to requests for information.

 

 

• Take customer bookings, follow up requests for information and course information and provide advice for first aid and health and safety related queries, including numbers of first aiders required, types of first aid courses required and fire training requirements.

Administration

• Ensure all course documentation is completed accurately and timely, stored securely and recorded on the relevant systems and databases.

• Complete and submit all business related activities, including course materials and business expenses, timely and accurately.

• Contact potential and existing customers to inform them of upcoming courses, requalification reminders and to request customer feedback on services provided.

• Responsible for the maintenance and cleanliness of all training resources, in accordance with manufacturer guidelines.

• Attend meetings and development workshops, to maintain up-to-date knowledge of current legislation and developments in relation to first aid training.

 

 

 

• Maintain occupational competence in all key areas in accordance with national guidelines. • Signpost potential new customers to line manager.

• Promote the sales of value added products to customers.

 

 

• To uphold the fundamental principles of Mcasey and to work within the organizations’ equal opportunities and Safety and health policies.

• To work as part of the team, undertaking any other relevant duties within the overall scope of this post as may be required.

 

 

Person Essential criteria:

• Full Zimbabwean clean class 4 driving license.

• Currently hold a recognized first aid or emergency care qualification

 

 

• Recognized teaching or training qualification

• A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a first aid or healthcare related trainer

• Experience of working without direct supervision Desirable criteria:

 

• Pre hospital care qualification (AT, EMT or Paramedic experience)

• A recognized safety and health qualification.
