Petrotrade is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Financial Accountant to safeguard the integrity of the Company’s financial records and ensure full compliance with statutory, regulatory and industry requirements. The position reports to the Finance Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for accurate financial reporting, robust internal controls, effective asset and inventory accounting, and disciplined financial governance within a regulated petroleum environment. The role requires a technically strong professional who can uphold high standards of accuracy, accountability and financial stewardship across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS and local statutory requirements.
- Ensure full compliance with ZIMRA, regulatory authorities and petroleum industry fiscal obligations.
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger and all balance sheet accounts.
- Oversee fixed asset accounting, depreciation and capitalisation of all infrastructure.
- Perform inventory and stocks reconciliations and ensure accurate valuation of petroleum products.
- Manage revenue recognition and ensure correct accounting treatment of petroleum transactions.
- Coordinate external audits and implement corrective actions.
- Strengthen internal controls and enforce financial governance frameworks.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
- Studying towards a professional qualification in a related field such as ACCA or CIMA will be an added advantage.
- Minimum five (5) years’ progressive experience in finance and accounting.
- Must be able to engage with stakeholders and ensure accounting accuracy and compliance.
- Able to produce accurate and complete annual financial statements.
- Experience in regulated industries (such as petroleum, mining, energy, FMCG) and IFRS is strongly preferred.
- Technically strong, process-driven and detail-oriented.
- High level of integrity and risk awareness.
