Nash Paints is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Financial Accountant to join their finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, ensuring compliance with IFRS and tax regulations, supporting audit processes, and providing insightful financial analysis to support strategic and operational decisions. This role also involves overseeing financial controls across head office and branch operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with IFRS standards.
- Prepare supporting schedules including accruals, prepayments, provisions, and reconciliations.
- Review financial data for completeness and accuracy.
- Maintain financial reporting timetables and meet deadlines.
- Prepare monthly management accounts with detailed variance analysis.
- Provide commentary on financial performance, trends, and key business drivers.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
- Deliver financial insights to support management decisions.
- Prepare branch performance reports and profitability analysis.
- Maintain the integrity of the General Ledger.
- Review and post journals accurately.
- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Investigate discrepancies and resolve issues.
- Support system controls and data integrity.
- Ensure statutory tax obligations are met.
- Prepare and submit VAT, PAYE, Withholding Tax, and Corporate Tax returns.
- Maintain tax schedules and reconciliations.
- Liaise with tax authorities and external consultants.
- Manage tax risks effectively.
- Conduct product, branch, and operational cost analysis.
- Monitor cost structures and identify savings opportunities.
- Review margins and profitability.
- Support pricing decisions with financial analysis.
- Ensure accurate cost allocations.
- Prepare audit schedules and documentation.
- Act as liaison with auditors.
- Ensure timely completion of audits.
- Address audit queries and implement recommendations.
- Strengthen internal controls based on audit findings.
- Enforce financial controls across all operations.
- Review branch transactions and reconciliations.
- Ensure compliance with policies.
- Identify control weaknesses and implement corrective measures.
- Support governance and risk management initiatives.
- Ensure proper accounting treatment under IFRS.
- Support implementation of new IFRS standards.
- Maintain aligned accounting policies and procedures.
- Provide guidance on complex transactions.
- Ensure timely, accurate financial reports with zero material audit findings.
Requirements
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in financial accounting.
- Proficiency with ERP systems, preferably Sage X3.
- Experience in financial reporting, tax, and audit support.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional qualification: Certified Chartered Accountant (CA).
