Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to construction and maintenance policy formulation, implementation and review in line with the Ministry’s strategic plan and national development imperatives.
- Manage Government construction and maintenance activities to ensure projects are completed within stipulated timeframes.
- Monitor progress of construction and maintenance works carried out by the Department.
- Provide technical advice to user Ministries and Departments on construction and maintenance matters.
- Coordinate the registration and placement of contractors into their respective categories.
- Engage and consult the Quantity Survey Department for valuation of construction and maintenance works and cost estimates.
- Compile monthly and annual progress reports on construction and maintenance activities nationwide.
- Provide technical input into the procurement of equipment, services and materials for construction and maintenance programmes and projects.
- Participate in resource mobilization and the development of budgets and funding strategies.
- Develop and maintain a database of all construction and maintenance projects and programmes.
- Supervise, coach and counsel subordinate staff.
Requirements
- A Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil, Structural, Electrical, Mechanical, Architectural, Construction Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
- A Master of Science Degree in a relevant field will be an added advantage.
- At least six (6) years’ experience at Engineer, Architect or Officer grade.
- Registration with the Zimbabwe Institute of Engineers.
- Proficiency in planning, supervising and executing large-scale construction projects, including civil, structural and mechanical works.
- Knowledge of national and international building codes, safety standards and environmental regulations.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Building Information Modeling (BIM) and project management software.
- Supervision and management skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong report writing skills.
