Key Responsibilities
- Perform high-quality welding and fabrication work in accordance with approved specifications and drawings.
- Carry out MIG, ARC and/or other welding processes as required.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and welding specifications.
- Prepare, fit, align and weld metal components and structures.
- Inspect completed welds to ensure compliance with required quality standards.
- Identify welding defects and carry out necessary corrective work.
- Operate welding equipment safely and efficiently.
- Conduct routine checks and maintain welding equipment and tools.
- Ensure compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental requirements at all times.
- Maintain good housekeeping within the work area.
- Perform any other reasonable duties assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
- Journeyman Class 1 Welder, with a recognised National Certificate.
- Minimum 3 years’ relevant post-apprenticeship welding experience, preferably in a manufacturing, engineering, fabrication or industrial environment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and welding specifications.
- Strong practical experience in welding, fabrication, fitting and metal preparation.
- Knowledge of welding quality standards and safe working procedures.
- Ability to work independently and meet production deadlines.
- Good attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
