Duties and Responsibilities

• Identifies and raises awareness of safety issues for the project
• Ensures production and maintenance of health and safety programmes
• Conducts seminars and awareness campaigns on health and safety issues
• Ensures that health and safety meetings are held as per statutory requirements
• Ensures that the Authority HIV/AIDS policy is implemented
• Offers periodic feedback to management on health and safety matters
• carrying out routine or unplanned visits and inspections to ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and taking action to improve conditions;
• Investigating accidents at work and complaints about poor standards of health and safety, as well as identifying areas of negligence;
• Investigating outbreaks of infectious diseases and preventing it spreading any further;
• advising on planning and licensing applications
• Monitor contractors compliance to HSE guidelines requirements
• Attending Hazard identification and Risk Assessment for critical activities
• Tracking, reporting and investigating incidents
• Generating daily HSE logs and Progress Reports
• Implementation of IMS

Qualifications and Experience

• A degree in Environment health & safety or another relevant discipline
• Four (4) years post-graduate experience in power generation or heavy industry
• SAATCO, OSHEMAC is a requirement
• Membership of a recognized professional institution
• Computer literacy
• Clean Class4 driver’s license
