SECURITY SUPERVISOR – RAVENSHIELD Security Services

Most employers require a minimum of five O-Level passes including English and Mathematics, plus a diploma or certificate in Security Management from institutions like the Zimbabwe Republic Police Training School or private security colleges. A valid Class 4 driver's license and PSIRA registration (or equivalent security regulatory body certification) are typically mandatory. Prior experience as a security officer or guard is usually essential before advancing to supervisor level.

You will oversee security personnel deployment, conduct patrol inspections, and ensure compliance with site-specific security protocols. Daily tasks include shift scheduling, incident reporting, liaising with clients and law enforcement, and training junior staff on surveillance and emergency procedures. You must also manage access control systems and respond promptly to security breaches or alarms.

Zimbabwean security employers typically expect strong discipline, punctuality, and respect for hierarchy within the workplace. You may work long hours including night shifts, weekends, and public holidays, with limited flexibility due to the nature of 24/7 security coverage. Professional appearance and clear communication skills are highly valued, as supervisors often represent the company directly to corporate clients.

With experience, you can advance to Operations Manager, Regional Security Manager, or consultancy roles within larger security firms. Some supervisors transition into corporate risk management or establish their own security companies after obtaining additional qualifications. Continuous professional development through courses in cybersecurity, forensic investigation, or business management significantly improves promotion prospects.

Benefits vary considerably by employer size and sector, but typically include statutory leave days, NSSA pension contributions, and sometimes medical aid schemes. Larger corporate security firms and those serving mining or banking clients generally offer more comprehensive packages than smaller local operators. Always clarify benefit details during interviews, as informal arrangements remain common in Zimbabwe's security industry.

Submit applications with a detailed CV highlighting supervisory experience, certifications, and clean criminal record verification to company offices or advertised email addresses. Employers prioritize candidates with proven leadership experience, physical fitness, and references from previous security roles or military/police service. Demonstrating knowledge of Zimbabwe's Private Security Industry Regulation Act and current security technology trends strengthens your application significantly.
