Job Description

The post Security Technician conducts inspection, installation, maintenance and repair of security and life-saving equipment for various clients. Primary daily tasks include assessment of client security systems’ state of repair and recommend changes in maintenance schedules and techniques to enhance operational effectiveness.

Job Requirements

Completion of a three year diploma or four year apprenticeship from a reputable institution in one of the following fields of study is required: electronics, electrical power or mechanical technology, engineering, or engineering technology.

3 years hands-on field experience, in major repairs and installation of electronic, electrical, electromechanical, and heavy-duty mechanical equipment; CCTV systems, intruder / fire alarm systems, access control, traffic booms, electric fencing, automated gates & garage doors, public address and vehicle arrest systems is required.

Candidate must have a  Good working knowledge (spoken and written) of English.

Must be able to apply knowledge above in the installation and maintenance of security equipment. Must be able to read blueprints, drawings, and schematic diagrams of electrical and mechanical systems. Must be able to make minor adjustments and repairs. Ability to use electronic test equipment. Must be able to apply knowledge and skills to troubleshoot and rectify common problems associated with security equipment independently. Must have a valid Class 4 driver’s license.

Ability to troubleshoot, adjust and repair electrical, electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical equipment as necessary.
