Duties and Responsibilities

• Supervises and leads a project team of mechanical Engineers and Technicians &
• Supervises activities of turbine engineering work to ensure that goals and objectives are accomplished within a prescribed time and within funding parameters.
• Establishes work plan for each phase of the project; works with internal and external project resources to outline work plan and to assign duties, responsibilities and scope of authority.
• Review of technical correctness of contractual thermal design documentation by following Standard processes and design criteria
• Carries our review of Contractors Turbo set thermodynamics calculation and analysis, and inputs to blading & turbine modules design
• Reviews or participates in the preparation of performance test procedures and attend performance acceptance tests
• Reviews operation and maintenance procedures and manuals for the different turbine plant items
• Carries out vendor quality surveillance prior to appointment of Subcontractors and participates in FAT
• Prepares project reports and provides management updates
• Ensures that the work on and offsite-site is carried out according to project HSE policy
• Providing technical support and resolving technical issues during erection and commissioning stages of projects including administration of design change implementation and control.
• Implement IMS in work procedures and ensure implementation by subordinates

Qualifications and Experience

• A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Preferably 8 years’ experience in power generation projects or heavy industry
• Professional membership of a recognised Engineering Institute (Registration with Engineering Council of Zimbabwe would be mandatory)
• Project Management Professional certification (PRINCE2/PMP)
