Key Responsibilities

  • Conducts routine and ad hoc site inspections of road maintenance works under the Provincial Engineer’s guidance.
  • Verifies workmanship quality, materials, construction methods and site conditions against specifications.
  • Measures and confirms executed quantities against approved maintenance programs.
  • Identifies defects, deviations, and non-compliance early; escalate promptly to the Provincial Engineer.
  • Maintains defect registers and corrective action records.
  • Provides on-site technical guidance to Road Authority staff.
  • Demonstrates correct maintenance procedures and workmanship standards.
  • Supports standardization of routine maintenance practices across the province.
  • Mentors junior field staff through practical demonstrations and coaching.
  • Conducts initial technical verification of acquittals and payment claims.
  • Prepares field inspection reports, site measurements, and photographic records.
  • Assists the Provincial Engineer in audits, technical reviews and M&E exercises with factual site evidence.
  • Maintains systematic filing of technical and M&E documentation.
  • Updates and manages the disbursement register for maintenance funds.
  • Tracks acquittals, submissions, verifications and approvals.
  • Files inspection reports, site instructions and defect notices.
  • Supports the Provincial Engineer with record-keeping and document control.

Requirements

  • 5 O’ Levels including English and Maths.
  • Diploma in Civil Engineering/ Construction Technology/Highways/Land Surveying /Quantity Surveying and related field.
  • Project Management Qualification is an added advantage.
  • 5 years relevant working experience.
