First Capital Bank Zimbabwe is looking for a highly experienced Project Manager to join the Service Delivery team, reporting directly to the Head of Service Delivery. The ideal candidate will lead, plan, execute, and deliver strategic and operational projects within the bank, ensuring alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements. They manage end-to-end project lifecycles, stakeholder engagement, resource optimization, and risk mitigation within a dynamic financial services environment. In addition, they co-ordinate country projects from design to implementation and successfully deliver a planned business change in line with the bank’s strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end project execution, ensuring timelines, cost, and quality targets are achieved. (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid).
  • Coordinate resources across multiple workstreams to ensure seamless delivery.
  • Oversee system implementation, process improvement, or transformation initiatives (e.g., digital banking, core banking systems, regulatory projects).
  • Assemble and manage Project teams including chairing project meetings and timely communicate progress against set deadlines.
  • Determine readiness of service and obtain sanction to proceed to roll-out.
  • Ensure the bank is prepared for the change, including agreement of acceptance criteria and sign-off.
  • Ensure the impact of the project on the operational and IT infrastructure is accessed and communicated.
  • Establish and manage appropriate project Risk, Opportunities, Change and issue management procedures.
  • Manage compliance with First Capital bank project practices and methodologies.
  • Evaluate business need for change and produce the Business Case incorporating project Inception, Definition and Planning.
  • Obtain sign-off of Business Case / budget from Project sponsor and Executive Committee.
  • Plan and agree reporting mechanism and change control with stakeholders.
  • Plan and organise project release framework in line with First Capital Bank project standards.
  • Prepare end to end project implementation plan and identify key milestones and target dates.
  • Develop comprehensive project charters, scope statements, and detailed project plans.
  • Define project objectives, deliverables, milestones, and success criteria aligned to bank strategy.
  • Ensure adherence to enterprise project management methodologies
  • Manage external vendors, consultants, and service providers.
  • Conduct contract management, performance tracking, and SLA enforcement.
  • Ensure vendor deliverables meet agreed quality standards.
  • Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise-Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Fist Capital Bank Policies and Policy Standards.
  • Monitor financial performance, tracking actuals against planned budgets.
  • Optimize resource allocation to ensure efficient utilization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Project Management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, Agile/Scrum) preferred
  • 4-8 years’ experience in project management within the banking or financial services sector.
  • Proven track record of delivering complex, cross-functional projects.
  • Good understanding of the Bank including systems, structures and procedures; change management procedures and practices.
