The National Gallery of Zimbabwe (NGZ) is inviting applications from suitably qualified, mature, honest and substantially experienced persons for appointment to the above challenging position which has arisen in the organization. The applicant will be based at Head Office, Harare and will be responsible for total management of the company’s procurement function.

Duties And Responsibilities

 

The Procurement Officer’s key duties and responsibilities include; planning procurement activities for the National Gallery of Zimbabwe; work with internal stakeholders (user departments) to determine procurement needs, quality and delivery requirements; analyses requisitions from user departments to determine the method of procurement to be used; reviewing purchase orders for completeness and process requisitions in line with the Gallery’s policy and procedure; requests for quotations from suppliers; prepares bid documents for tenders as guided by procurement regulations; prepares bid notices, sends tenders for publication and participates in adjudication of bids; supervises the tender evaluation committee; prepares contract documents and amendments, managing procurement contracts or overseeing their implementation; submission of evaluation reports to the Executive Director confirming that procedures have been followed in accordance with the Act and regulations; preparing procurement reports and monthly returns for NGZ and the Procurement Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (PRAZ);assist in the selection of appropriate suppliers to promote good procurement practice with due regard to sustainability, ethical purchasing standards and costing; co-ordinate the procurement cycle to ensure that goods, works and services are provided timely and at the most competitive rates; monitor and evaluate supplier performance in line with the prevailing procurement regulations, ensuring all purchases comply with PRAZ’s purchasing procedures.

Qualifications And Experience

 

The person must possess either a; Diploma/Degree in Business Management/Economics/Purchasing & Supply from a recognized institute and or full CIPS qualification; minimum 3 years’ experience in inventory/supply chain management; excellent skills in communication, analytical and organized; excellent in Microsoft excel, Pastel Sage Evolution and ERP inventory systems; experience working in a Government setting is an added advantage.
