Political Associate (Environment Science Technology and Health Associate)

Duties
The position shall be encumbered by an EFM serving effectively as a mid-level officer in the Political/Economic section. The incumbent is responsible for the Environment, Science, Technology, and Health (ESTH) portfolio, and is the Embassy’s principal reporting officer on the relevant issues for the Embassy and Washington. The incumbent will back up the Economic officer on other economic issues and provide support for USG visitors to Zimbabwe as needed.
Qualifications and Evaluations
- Requirements:
- EXPERIENCE: A minimum of five years of prior work experience in a field related to political analysis, development, law, human rights, environment, science, technology and health issues, or other issues related to the duties of the position.JOB KNOWLEDGE: Must have a general familiarity with principal themes, parties, actors, history, and current dynamics in Zimbabwe. Must also have a general familiarity with U.S. interests or policy objectives as related to political and economic issues in Zimbabwe.
- Education Requirements:
- Must possess a bachelor’s degree.
- Evaluations:
- LANGUAGE: English language fluency equivalent to FSI level 4 is required in speaking and reading.SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Proficiency in Microsoft Word, internet research, and Microsoft Outlook or a similar e-mail system. Must be capable of working with significant autonomy and analyzing complex issues. Must possess or be able to obtain a Secret-level security clearance.
