Job Summary

JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Foreperson-Printing Production. The job exists to ensure installation, maintenance and repair of all mechanical plant and fluid equipment to ensure operational targets are achieved.

Duties And Responsibilities

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

Installs plant equipment and machinery (including printing and packaging machinery)
Maintains property infrastructure to minimise downtime via mechanical faults
Attends to mechanical faults on infrastructure and plant machinery
Performs planned/preventive maintenance
Performs plant checks to identify potential machinery failures
Plans for repair or replacement of identified faults on machinery
Performs failure mode analysis of plant machinery
Draws up a checklist of possible plant machinery failures as well as identify and advise on the procurement of required critical spare parts
Compiles data on plant break-downs and files job cards for plant review
Designs, draws and machines selected spares for plant machinery
Plans for machinery installation projects from human resourcing, time budgeting, materials sourcing and installation process design.
Tests, commissions and decommissions installed machinery
Training and induction of apprentices
Ensures compliance with the requirement of SHE regulations
Supervises machine operators on operator maintenance (First line maintenance)
Provides advisory services to the procurement department on the correct spares and machinery to acquire
Communicates with suppliers’ and machine manufacturers for after sales support.
Performs standby duties to service production off normal working hours
Researches and advises on latest technology to meet global trends in production.
Assists operators with setting up and understanding the use of machinery according to best practices.

Qualifications And Experience

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

5 O’ Levels including Mathematics, Science and English
National Certificate in Mechanical Engineering
National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from a reputable institution is an added advantage
Class one (1) Journeyman
Apprenticeship Trained– 4 years
5 years’ experience
