Livelihoods Analyst – UN

  • Supporting the provision of tailored technical support on livelihoods strategies, market linkages, natural resources management and alternative energy approaches;
  • Supporting the ZRBF grantees in implementing technical approaches for livelihoods activities adapted to the various districts and needs of beneficiaries;
  • Supporting the timely provision of technical and methodological support to ZRBF Grantees for the planning and implementation of livelihoods activities;
  • Anticipating difficulties related to how livelihoods activities are carried out and facilitate the resolution of problems when needed;
  • Developing ZRBF Grantees capacity with techniques and new methodologies linked to livelihoods and resilience;
  • Supporting integrated approach to livelihoods resilience, while mainstreaming gender, protection, environment and nutrition;
  • Generating new livelihood ideas and proposes new, more effective ways of doing things;
  • Supporting the facilitation and strengthening of strategic alliances with partners and stakeholders;
  • Supporting the identification of any livelihoods assessments to be carried out, organize and supervise such assessments;
  • Supporting implementation and ensure that all livelihoods activities are properly layered, sequenced and integrated within the resilience-building programme and other programmes within the same districts and at a national level as well;
  • Ensuring periodic reporting on Value for Money aspects of livelihoods interventions;
  • Ensuring systematic and accurate income potential calculations as part of the livelihoods planning processes in all consortia;
  • Facilitation of knowledge building and sharing on livelihoods
  • Participating in the dissemination of guides and tools linked to livelihoods´ activities and ensure their quality and consistency with national policies and standards;
  • In close collaboration with the Resilience Advisor and the Programme Unit, take part in the quarterly review of Grantees performance;
  • Proposing the reorientation of livelihoods activities according to changing context when needed;
  • Consolidating and analyzing the information related to the evolution of livelihoods in ZRBF operating districts;
  • Leading workshops and/or technical exchange meetings on livelihoods;
  • Drafting and consolidating inputs for the ZRBF quarterly Donors’ reports;
  • Participating and providing technical advice to ZRBF Grantees in quarterly and annual review meetings and reports;
  • Representing ZRBF-PMU in all relevant technical forums and meetings related to Livelihoods and Resilience;
  • Ability to make new and useful ideas work;

  • Proven ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines;
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment; and
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally as well as excellent written skills;

Requirements

  • Masters’ or bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Social Sciences, Economics, Marketing, Development
  • Studies, Business Administration;
  • Applicants with a bachelor’s degree with 4 years of progressively responsible experience in
  • livelihoods projects will be considered;
  • At least 2 years’ experience working on livelihoods projects in rural areas;
  • At least 2 years’ experience working on development projects;
  • 2 years previous experience working with community-based projects;
  • Experience in market-based approaches and market linkages facilitation;
  • Previous experience working with multi-sector projects;
  • Experience in design, facilitation, use of participatory techniques and practical community-based approaches;
  • Excellent understanding of Resilience in the context of Zimbabwe;
  • Previous UN or UNDP work experience will be an added advantage;
  • Fluency in English with good verbal and written skills.
