MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The position exist to provide legal advice and research, interpretation of legislation, drafting and review of contracts/Service level agreements; to lead in the amendment of existing legislation in line with the needs of the organization and to address challenges met by operatives in applying existing legislation.

Position reports to the Senior Legal Officer.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. A) Assisting in drafting and reviewing of contracts and policies
2. Assisting in the research, and analysis of legal opinions and legal documents
3. Giving legal advice to internal departments
4. Handling and outsourcing litigation cases to external lawyers
5. Analyzing judgements and advise on course of action
6. Ensuring that the organization complies with relevant statutory and regulatory requirements
7. Drafting new and amending legislation
8. Any other responsibilities as assigned

EDUCATION, PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND WORK EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Degree from a recognized institution
• A registered legal practitioner
• A minimum of three years working in a commercial environment,
• Computer literacy
• Knowledge of legal drafting and high analytical skills,
• Good interpersonal and leadership skills
