Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the following vacant post that has arisen within the Zimbabwe Manpower Development Fund (ZIMDEF) – an equal opportunity employer

Job Purpose
The incumbent will be mainly responsible for ensuring efficient management, administration and coordination of the Funds legal services, including providing advice on legal matters.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
⦁ Conducts research, drafts legal documents, interprets laws, rules and regulations and prepares legal opinions as and when requested
⦁ Assists in the implementation of the Fund’s policy, legal functions and activities.
⦁ Identifies potential legal risks and recommends appropriate remedies.
⦁ Takes an active role in the review, for substantive accuracy and consistency of legal documents, speaking points, policy research and other legal matters.
⦁ Champions the identification of new/revised statutes, guidelines and regulations impacting the Fund and ensures compliance by the organization.
⦁ Litigation management through review of cases and tracking progress on various litigation cases in liaison with external lawyers.
⦁ Assists in the management of outsourced legal services, issuance of instructions and briefings to external legal service providers.
⦁ Compiles and maintains relevant legal registers that covers all of the Fund’s functions
⦁ Provides Secretariat services to the ZIMDEF Board and its Committees
⦁ Prepares agenda, board packs and minutes for Board meeting and Committee meetings
⦁ Assists in ensuring compliance with Corporate Governance Regulations on behalf of the Fund

Qualifications and Work Competencies
⦁ Bachelor of Laws Degree.
⦁ A minimum of four years’ relevant experience.
⦁ Excellent knowledge of civil, criminal, commercial laws and procedures code.
⦁ Good presentation and negotiation skills, as well as the ability to communicate.
⦁ Highly conversant with Zimbabwean laws.
⦁ Clean class 4 driver’s license.
