About Victoria Falls Offshore Centre Limited (“VFOC”)
VFOC has been tasked to develop and implement an International Financial Centre in Victoria Falls. An international financial centre allows Zimbabwe to attract investment into Zimbabwe by offering incentives and regulations that are different from the mainland. This model has achieved great success in many countries including Kazakhstan, Qatar, and Dubai.

Legal Manager

VFOC is a start-up. We are looking for entrepreneurial people, who can develop systems and processes from scratch. You must be prepared to do whatever you can to make this a success as part of a team. .

Position Overview
This role will provide legal support to the VOFC that includes, but is not limited to providing legal advice on investment transactions, and legal and regulatory issues for the asset management and financial services business.

Duties and Responsibilities

Principal Duties
 Providing corporate and secretarial services to the board.
 Assist in the development of legislation and regulation affecting the international
financial centre
 Providing legal advice and support to the Board and management
 Evaluating and assessing legal risks, providing regulatory advice and support
 Working closely with the internal teams to provide effective corporate governance
 Managing external lawyers for effective use of resources.
 Conducting contract reviews, negotiation, and documentation on corporate exercises,
such as M&As, securities, transactions, and any upcoming projects
 Performing due diligence exercises and liaising with external parties, including
external counsel, investment bankers, bankers, and regulators.

Qualifications and Experience

Qualification and Experience
 Bachelor’s in Law (LL.B) (Hons) from a reputable university.
 At least 5-7 years of experience in practice or as in-house legal counsel in a major
legal practice or an established financial/commercial organisation or government
entity.
 Exposure to the development of legislation in finance/commercial law will be a definite
advantage.

 Strong interpersonal skills and work ethic.
 Ability to work independently.
 Strong appreciation of commerce and business concepts
Excellent command of written and spoken English and local languages is required.
 Ability to influence at all levels.
