Infrastructure and Support Engineer (Remote Role, Sandton. SA) –
Our client is one of the leading payments technology companies that facilitates transaction acceptance for banks and businesses based in South Africa is looking to hire Infrastructure and Support Engineer with 7+ years’ of experience in similar role.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will be responsible for infrastructure and network installation and configuration. Act as escalation point/domain expert if the team is not able to resolve technical issues.
Maintain and ensure DR and BCP testing (business continuity planning).
Implementing solutions in respect of business requirements with the relevant resources from service providers.
Assist the Head of Services in implementing the overall IT operating model.
Ensure backups are performed and monitored. Incident and Problem Management. Ensure that incidents/problems are documented and resolved either in-house or with the relevant service providers.
Ensure that all system failures are reported.
Monitor the investigation and resolution of problems and coordination of technical activities to facilitate the quick resolution of problems.
Support and maintain network and infrastructure to prevent future occurrences of incidents and problems.
Test to ensure systems are functional following an interruption in service.
Assist the Head of Services in preserving assets by implementing disaster recovery and backup procedures and information security and control structures.
Assist the Head of Services in implementing and maintaining PCI-DSS and PCI-Pin compliance.
Assist the Head of Services in completing the PCI audit. Keyloading of Gateways, Cardinal Servers, HSMs, and POS devices.
Vendor Relationships.
Assist the Head of Services with all IT-related contractual obligations, i.e. negotiating, renewing or terminating contracts.
Coordinate the procurement of services and hardware from vendors.
Assist the Head of Services in planning for Capex/Opex requirements for IT Infrastructure.
Implement initiatives to reduce operational costs and the cost of IT to the company.
Maintain Asset registers. Policies and Procedures.
Ensure that new or changed services are designed and documented.
Recommend and participate in the development of policies and procedures.
Conform to ISMS security policies and procedures.
Change control process and procedures. ITIL, PCI-DSS, POPIA compliance.
Competencies
Virtualisation – AWS/Azure/VMWare. Windows (Servers, Domain Controllers). Linux (Servers). Windows / Apple / Linux Desktops. Networking (LAN, Switches, WAN, VPN, DNS). Datacentre infrastructure (Server Hardware, Power, Airconditioning etc). Nagios/Centreon/Scripting. APIs. Backups & Replication. SAN/NAS. Printers. Telephony. Security (Firewalls, IDS/IPS, WAF, Fortinet).
Qualification & Experience
IT-related qualification.
