Job Opportunity: Environmental Management Agency Seeks Experienced IT Officer The EMA is seeking a qualified and experienced Information Technology Officer to support its digital transformation initiatives. The successful candidate will be based at the Head Office in Harare and will report to the Head of Information and Communication Technology. The role involves designing, developing, and enhancing ICT solutions to improve organizational efficiency, supporting ICT infrastructure, systems, and end-user services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and upgrade existing ICT systems as required
  • Support and troubleshoot ERP system (Acumatica) issues in collaboration with the ICT team
  • Assist with system backups, data integrity checks, and disaster recovery procedures
  • Collaborate with the ICT team to resolve technical issues and ensure viable solutions
  • Assist in the rollout of new ICT projects and digital platforms
  • Design and deploy high-availability environmental management database systems
  • Guide the design, development, and documentation of data repositories and information systems
  • Oversee data ingestion from external sources such as partner databases and mobile data collection tools while maintaining security and data integrity
  • Maintain accurate documentation of backups on ICT systems

Requirements

  • A first Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a relevant field
  • Proven ability to develop software applications using PHP, Java, ASP.NET, C#, Delphi, C++, and Python
  • Knowledge of mobile application development using Android Studio, Swift, Xamarin, JavaScript, and AngularJS
  • Understanding of software engineering principles including Agile development and software frameworks
  • Knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, UDP)
  • Hands-on experience with Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MySQL, including advanced database design such as Star Schema
  • Professional certification in Programming or AI Fundamentals is an added advantage
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a similar role
  • Strong interpersonal skills
