Responsible for the formulation, development, organization, planning, implementation and management of water production strategies and programs, and ensure optimum and cost-effective production of water all the time within the City of Harare and surrounding areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Determines and control chemical stocks inventory
  • Controls production output and associated costs.
  • Monitors, supervise and control the divisional functions and mandate.
  • Forecasts future water production growth needs in liaison with the Distribution Manager.
  • Manages and supervises the Water Production Team, including enforcement of safety standards.
  • Sets divisional objectives / targets and ensures they are aligned with the departmental and organizational goals and priorities.
  • Prepares and manages the division’s capital and revenue budget
  • Coordinates the activities of the division with those of other divisions and top management and ensures that set priorities and targets are met
  • Formulates and monitors and reviews policies, strategies, systems and procedures (SOPs) for the division and align them to the organizational goals.
  • Plan for projects to be undertaken in water production.
  • Supervises projects being undertaken by contractors and consulting engineers.

Requirements

  • Degree in Water Engineering or equivalent.
  • Masters’ degree in Engineering Management or equivalent is an added advantage.
  • Corporate Membership of the Zimbabwe Institution of Engineers a must
  • At least seven (7) years relevant experience with at least five (5) years work experience at managerial level
  • Local government experience is an added advantage
  • Clean class 4 driver’s license.
