VACANCY
Reporting to the Registrar, the main purpose of the job is to ensure the development, implementation and management of fleet and facilities operations, and that services are functional to meet all transport, accommodation and operational needs of the University. In addition, the Fleet and Facilities Manager is responsible for overseeing the unit’s fiscal budget and managing a team of staff to ensure timeous products and service delivery to the stakeholders.

Diploma in Project Management (added advantage)

Master’s Degree in any of the above fields (further added advantage)

Recognized people management qualification
EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE

Minimum 5 years’ experience in:

Water systems
-
Waste disposal
-
Roads
-
Building maintenance and construction
-
-
At least 2 years at managerial level with ability to work independently

Holder of a clean Class 1, 2 or 4 Driver’s Licence
-
Registered with or member of a relevant professional body

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversee general maintenance of university infrastructure:

Water supply

Waste disposal

Roads

Buildings

Fleet

Identify and resolve bottlenecks in fleet operations

Analyze fleet data for business performance optimization
-
Ensure cost-effective fleet and facilities operations
-
Ensure compliance with designs, policies, and regulations

Formulate and manage fleet and facilities budgets
-
Develop fleet master plan (repair, maintenance, replacement)
-
Create facilities master plan aligned with the university’s strategic goals
-
Coordinate infrastructural projects to ensure timely and budget-aligned completion
-
Manage human resources: recruitment, development, and performance with HR support
-
Oversee bulk procurement of materials/spares as per Procurement Policy
-
Implement emergency and safety procedures for buildings
-
Ensure university compliance with masterplans and engineering designs
-
Liaise with stakeholders, partners, and experts on physical development matters
-
Advise management on technical/engineering matters and legislative changes
-
Serve in university committees per SOPs
