This full-time opportunity is ideal for an experienced finance professional with a strong background in grants management, donor compliance, and financial repoting within the NGO, humanitarian, or development sector. The Finance and Grants Officer will oversee the organization’s daily financial management and donor-funded program finances. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with donor regulations, maintain accurate financial records, prepare reports, support grant management, and enhance financial accountability across projects. The role reports to the Director and collaborates with program staff, donors, auditors, and partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate accounting records following organizational policies and standards
  • Process payments, receipts, journals, bank reconciliations, and month-end procedures
  • Manage accounts payable, petty cash, and cash flow
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
  • Maintain the general ledger and supporting documentation
  • Ensure proper filing and record-keeping of financial documents
  • Support financial oversight of donor-funded projects from initiation to close-out
  • Prepare donor financial reports per grant agreements and deadlines
  • Monitor grant expenditure against budgets and identify variances
  • Ensure compliance with donor and organizational financial policies
  • Assist in grant proposal development, including budgeting and narratives
  • Ensure statutory and organizational policy compliance
  • Prepare documentation for internal and external audits
  • Maintain supporting documentation for all financial transactions
  • Support strengthening internal controls

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Progress towards professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, CPA, ICAZ, etc.) is an advantage
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in finance and grants management within NGOs or development sectors
  • Proven experience with donor-funded projects and financial reporting
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks and strong Microsoft Excel skills
